D23 Expo to Feature Advance Screening of ‘The Lion King’ in 3D

The D23 Expo this August in Anaheim, CA is sure to be an exciting event. In addition to the previously announced experiences that guests will find at the Expo, D23 recently announced that the event will also feature a screening of the classic Disney film The Lion King in 3D. The screening, which will be held on August 20 at the Anaheim Convention Center, will be an exclusive screening for Disney fans to see the film in 3D before its theatrical and home entertainment release.

“With Disney fans coming from all over the world to experience the D23 Expo, we’ve got the perfect setting and the perfect audience to share in the 3D launch of The Lion King,” Steven Clark, head of D23, says. “We’re thrilled to bring our most devoted fans an exclusive look at one of the most iconic and beloved Disney films of all time. This is Pride Rock in a way it’s never been seen before.”

The Lion King will be presented in Disney Digital 3D in movie theaters nationwide beginning on September 16, and will only be presented for two weeks. This “two-week theatrical extravaganza” will then be followed by the film’s home entertainment debut on October 4, where the film will premiere in high-definition Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D for the first time ever in a special “Diamond Edition” release.
