Disney recently shelled out a seven-figure amount to pick up the rights to a live-action Cinderella adaptation. This on the heels of the blockbuster live-action version of Alice in Wonderland, and in the mix with the adaptations underway from numerous studios of The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and other fairy tale stories.
The winner in this deal is Aline Brosh McKenna, screenwriter for The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses, who pitched the story to Disney. Simon Kinberg will produce the film. Brosh McKenna and Kinberg worked together previously on Date Night.
