Disney VoluntEARS Make Tamales for Community Organization

Last week, Disney VoluntEARS took park in the Latino Health Access (LHA) Tamalada event, which was the event that actually served to kick-start the LHA.

For the last 18 years, their motto has been “We will have a healthier community, even if we have to sell tamales.” And they’ve done just that!

3,500 tamales were sold during the event, with proceeds going towards the LHA’s diabetes management program and potentially life-saving related eye surgeries. The tamales are not made with lard, and ingredients are used to ensure the tamales have reduced fat and sodium in keeping with their healthy theme.

Disney also donated $10,000 to the organization in support of their efforts. To find out more, as well as learn ways you can help, please visit latinohealthaccess.org.
