HGTV and Disney Collaborate to Create ‘Frankenweenie’ Inspired Garden at Comic-Con International

HGTV and Disney have collaborated to create a garden inspired by Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, which will be on display at Comic-Con International in San Diego, CA.

The Electrifying Garden will transform the 3,500 square-foot Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter lawn and will be open for visitors between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. The garden will showcase more than 20 dark plants amid low-lying fog, tombstones and other odd elements to fit with the pet cemetery theme.

Guests who enter the garden will feel transported to the New Holland Pet Cemetery, a key location in Burton’s film. Once inside the exhibit, guests will be able to learn about the various plants featured as well as experience fun photo opportunities and other interactive elements that are sure to delight Tim Burton fans.

Denise Conroy-Galley, senior vice president, marketing and creative services, HGTV, says:

Comic-Con offers a perfect setting for us to recreate the plant life and outdoor spaces in the same tone as the distinctive and visually stunning ‘Frankenweenie.’ We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with Disney to develop this extraordinary experience for fans of HGTV and Tim Burton. Our presence at Comic-Con is part of our larger experiential marketing strategy aimed at targeting occasional and new HGTV fans in unexpected places, in organic ways.

The garden exhibit will be on display at Comic-Con from July 12 to July 14.
