Military Families to Get Special Holiday Gift from Disney

This weekend, 17 military families are set to get a special holiday gift from The Disneyland Resort  – a decorated Christmas tree, trimmed by employees of Downtown Disney businesses.

Cpl. Christopher O’Quin is one such man who will be receiving this special gift from Disney. Says O’Quin:

I want the kids to have a really, really amazing Christmas, not like one they’ve ever had. I think this will be one of those things that will make our Christmas that much better.

Representatives of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit are expected to pick up the trees on Saturday, and the military families will receive their trees during the party on Sunday. All of the recipients have just returned from deployment overseas, including O’Quinn, who was deployed for seven months.

The trees are decorated based on the business that helped trim the tree; for example, Sanuk footwear decorated a tree with flip-flop lights, while La Brea Bakery decorated their tree with gingerbread houses and cookies.

Visitors may view the trees on display near the ESPN Zone in Anaheim from 3 to 10 p.m. until they are picked up on Saturday.
