Disney’s Aulani Becomes First Hawaiian Resort to Obtain LEED Silver Certification

Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa was honored recently for its strong dedication to be an environmentally friendly destination, as it officially obtained LEED Silver certification from the US Green Building Council. Aulani is the first resort in Hawaii to receive this highly-honored certification.
The LEED Certification serves as an independent, third-party verification that a building project has been built and managed using the highest environmental standards. Disney Cast Members Pledge to Protect the Environment

Disney Cast members, inspired by the upcoming Disneynature film African Cats and Earth Day, are working to add more environmentally friendly actions into their daily routines.
Last year, cast members made 10,000 conservation pledges, and they’re hard at work to double that number this Earth Day and reduce their carbon footprint. Some of the ways Disney Cast members will use to “green” their home and work routines include:

Using reusable shopping bags and food and drink containers
Raising thermostats by two degrees in the summer and lowering two degrees in the winter

Disney’s Planet Challenge Winner Announced

Last week, the winner of Disney’s Planet Challenge was announced – congratulations to the Year 6 class of Cayman Prep & High School in the Cayman Islands! The winners were honored aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship in Grand Cayman for their class project, which dealt with protecting the threatened swallowtail butterfly – a species that can only be found there.
To help further their conservation efforts, the winning students worked to raise funds and awareness of the native swallowtail butterfly and its habitat. Additionally, the children planted several lime trees, …
