We’re so excited to see Disney’s upcoming film Oz: The Great and Powerful, which tells the story about the infamous Wizard’s arrival in Oz. Disney’s upcoming film, “Oz, the Great and Powerful,” has had more topsy turvy changes than a Kansas twister.
Just two and a half weeks ago, word surfaced that Robert Downey, Jr., who was slated to play an illusionist who is swept away by a tornado, was bowing out of the project.  At that point, Johnny Depp began discussions to play the role.  Now, after some negotiation, it appears that Depp will also be passing.
The next name to be bandied about for the Sam Raimi film?  Oscar-nominated James Franco.

Robert Downey, Jr. has reportedly backed out of the upcoming Disney film “Oz, the Great and Powerful.”  Seems his balloon won’t be landing in the Merry Old Land, after all.
The film, which is reported to be a prequel of sorts to the much-loved “Wizard of Oz,” will follow the wizard as a young performer, forced to leave the circus he’s traveling with, when his balloon is swept away by a tornado and…well, you get the point.  Sam Raimi is on board to direct the fantasy film.
