‘The Avengers’ and ‘Brave’ Return to Theaters for Labor Day Weekend

This summer, Marvel’s The Avengers took the box office by storm, grossing almost $1.5 billion to become the third-highest-grossing film of all time. Now, fans have the chance to see the film in theaters one last time, as Disney has brought back The Avengers and Disney/Pixar’s Brave to theaters this weekend for Labor Day.

While the films were still playing in a few theaters around the country from their original releases, Disney has expanded their showings to 1,700 theaters each nationwide for the weekend, where they will be playing from now through Monday in both 2-D and 3-D.

“We wanted to try it again and use messaging that says, ‘Get it while you can, one last time before these films head to video,’” Disney’s executive vice president of distribution Dave Hollis said.

Following the end of their theatrical run, the films will be released on DVD and Blu-ray this fall. The Avengers will make its DVD/Blu-ray debut on September 25, and Brave will be released November 13.
