This Week in Disney News – American Idols, Disney Villains, and Food & Wine Festival Updates

american idol experienceThis week saw some big news coming out of Walt Disney World, including the announcement of an attraction closure and more updates about this fall’s Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

Walt Disney World News

It was announced this week that the American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will  close in early January 2015. The attraction opened in 2009 and more than 2,000 “dream tickets” were handed out since then. Three of the top 13 contestants from last season’s reality TV episode made it to the show via the dream ticket.

Coming this summer to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a one-night hard-ticket event, Villains Unleashed. The event will include 50 Disney villains in addition to ‘Hades Hangout Dance Party’ and ‘Oogie Boogie’s Variety Show.’

Disney announced a partial lineup of villains for the event including Hades, Meg, Pain, Panic, Anastasia, Drizella, Lady Tremaine, J. Worthington Foulfellow, Gideon, Big Bad Wolf, Cruella De Vil, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Bowler Hat Guy, Queen of Hearts, Gaston, and Jafar.

This fall marks the 32nd year for the Night of Joy, a two-night musical event featuring the biggest names in Contemporary Christian music. Tickets are on sale now and Disney has announced the lineup of performers.

Earlier this month a new Starbucks location opened in Downtown Disney’s West Side and Walt Disney World For Grown Ups is reporting on the cool interactive touch screens that enable guests to connect with Starbucks customers at Disneyland.
