This Week in Disney News: Holidays at Epcot, Disney Springs Update, and Gingerbread Houses

holidays at epcotWe’re just a few days away from Thanksgiving which means turkey, stuffing, pie, and basketball! The 2014 Orlando Classic pre-season college basketball tournament kicks off Thursday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort. Tickets are still available for the event as of press time.

And while it might be hard to believe that December is just around the corner, the folks at Disneyland have a full slate of incredible merchandise events planned for the month. The events include a limited edition pin signing and the debut of two new Disney Dooney & Bourke designs.

Heading back to the Walt Disney World Resort, the Holidays Around the World at Epcot starts November 28 and guests will have a chance to experience three new holiday events in Mexico, China, and Morocco. There will also be new holiday food items as part of the celebrations.

If you’re visiting the Walt Disney World Resort soon keep an eye out for five Disney Parks buses that are wrapped up to celebrate the launch of Disney Infinity 2.0. The wraps are similar to those used a few years ago on the Monorails for TRON: Legacy.

The transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs continues and last week included the installation of the ‘Springs Bottling Co.’ marquee on top of the future location of Morimoto Asia. The sign is part of the backstory for Disney Springs.

Our friends at the Disney Food Blog shared some exciting news about the possibility of new restaurants coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They’ve also created an amazing holiday gift guide full of really cool coffee mugs that are perfect for everyone on your list!

And no holiday season at Walt Disney World is complete with the annual gingerbread displays! The Disney Food Blog has some great photos of the Contemporary’s ‘Frozen’-inspired display and information on the other resorts!
