Zach Braff in Talks to Join Cast of ‘Oz’

Another bright young star may be poised to join the cast of Oz:  The Great and Powerful, as word comes that Zach Braff is in talks to take a supporting role in the film.

Oz will be a prequel to the story we all grew up loving, and will tell the tale of a magician who attempts an escape via hot air balloon, only to be blown into an enchanted land, where sister witches are battling for control.

So far, James Franco is set to star, while it looks like the trio of witches will include Rachel Weisz as Evanora, the budding Wicked Witch of the East; Mila Kunis, destined to become the Wicked Witch of the West; and the ethereal Michelle Williams as Glinda the Good.  Braff would play Franco’s assistant, long suffering and under-appreciated Frank.

Filming on the movie is set to begin shortly in Michigan.  The fantasy flick is scheduled to hit theatres in March 2013.
