Disney Returns to Hand Drawn Animation For New Winnie the Pooh Movie

Forty-four years after Disney first licensed the lovable A.A. Milne’s character Winnie the Pooh a new feature film release date has been announced, featuring five previously unadapted stories from the original books. Pooh and his friends exemplify classic simplicity which is perhaps the reason why Disney is once again returning to the tradition of hand drawn animation for the project. Limited Edition 55th Anniversary Mickey Mouse Ears Now Available at Disneyland

Special reproductions of the classic Mickey Mouse Club ears from 1955 are now appearing on shelves at the Disneyland Resort. The retro style hat emulates the exact texture, logo, and shape of the original ears made famous by Disney stars Annette Funicello, Jimmie Dodd, & the rest of the famed Mouseketeers. “Wizards of Waverly Place” Star Selena Gomez: Disney’s Highest Paid Teen

Actress Selena Gomez, who’s been featured on the Disney Channel’s highly popular “Wizards of Waverly Place” sitcom since 2007 proves to be Disney’s highest paid teen star. According to a recently published list by the New York Post, Gomez’s paycheck beats out fellow starlets Miley Cyrus & Demi Lovato.

For each episode of Wizards of Waverly Place Selena pockets $25,000, unlike Miley Cyrus who earns $15,000 per episode on Hannah Montana. Demi Lovato follows by grabbing $12,000 per episode on “Sonny With a Chance.”

Disney to Sell Power Rangers

The Disney Company has sold the popular kid’s franchise “Power Rangers” back to its original owner Saban Entertainment.  The New York Times is reporting the sale and offers some speculation on why Disney made the decision:
“The franchise came to Disney in 2001 as part of the purchase from Saban and Fox of what is now the ABC Family cable channel. Disney has been playing around with the Art of Animation Resort idea for years now, and it looks like the economy has finally strengthened enough for the resort to become a reality. Disney’s 2nd Quarter Net Income Up 6% From Last Year, Thanks to Alice in Wonderland & Marvel

Despite a 3% after-hours share slip, Disney’s 2nd Quarter net income numbers surpassed Wall Street analysts’ expectations of 45 cents per share. Disney’s President & CEO Bob Iger, in a live webcast today, boasted that second-quarter net income was $953 million, or 48 cents a share, compared with $613 million, or 33 cents a share, for the same period a year ago.

Iron Man, Spider-Man & Other Marvel Superheroes Now Appearing on Merchandise in Disneyland

Several weeks after reports that Marvel merchandise was starting to appear on DisneyShopping.com, Marvel superheroes are making their way into the parks. Radiator Springs Test Vehicle Comes to Disney’s California Adventure

Disneyland revealed two fantastic shots of a brand new car today! It looks like any other brand new car…except for the smile!

This prototype will be used in the first early ride system tests for Radiator Springs Racers, the new E-ticket attraction coming to Cars Land, opening in 2012!
