Disney’s Aulani Becomes First Hawaiian Resort to Obtain LEED Silver Certification

Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa was honored recently for its strong dedication to be an environmentally friendly destination, as it officially obtained LEED Silver certification from the US Green Building Council. Aulani is the first resort in Hawaii to receive this highly-honored certification.
The LEED Certification serves as an independent, third-party verification that a building project has been built and managed using the highest environmental standards. Buildings are judged using a rigorous checklist that awards points for sustainability measures in such areas as water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and awareness …

Disney Begins Construction on Shanghai Disneyland Castle

We can’t wait to see more from Shanghai Disneyland, the next major Disney theme park currently under construction. This week, it was revealed that the park is now one step closer to completion, as construction officially commenced on the park’s spectacular Enchanted Storybook Castle.
Yesterday, the Disney Parks Blog posted this picture of the construction, in which you can see the first concrete piles being laid down that will support the new castle:

D23 Expo to Celebrate 60 Years of Walt Disney Imagineering

Fans of Disney’s theme parks who are headed to this year’s D23 Expo are in for a treat, as D23 announced this week some of the exciting events and exhibits that Disney’s Parks and Resorts Division have in store for the upcoming Expo. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Walt Disney Imagineering, Expo attendees will be able to enjoy exclusive panels, access to Imagineers, merchandise, and more.
Like at the 2011 Expo, Imagineering will be hosting a pavilion on the Expo floor this year that offers a glimpse behind-the-scenes at Imagineering. …

‘Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel’ to Debut on Disney Channel This August

Last year, we let you know the exciting news that the popular Disney Channel characters Phineas and Ferb would soon be joining forces with some of Marvel’s iconic superheroes. Now, we’re happy to announce that the wait for this highly-anticipated partnership is almost over, as Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel will be coming to the Disney Channel this August.

‘Mickey Mouse’ Cartoon Shorts Debuting on Disney Channel

A new series of 2D cartoon shorts featuring everyone’s favorite mouse debuts today on the Disney Channel. Simply called Mickey Mouse, the shorts air this weekend with three new cartoons, and continue with Friday premieres starting July 5.
The cartoons draw their inspiration from the 1930’s-era Mickey Mouse cartoons, but have their own contemporary touches. The characters’ designs featured a “rubber hose” style for exaggerated animation, and the background designs reflect the style from the 1950s and 1960s. July Merchandise Events Announced for the Walt Disney World Resort

The Walt Disney World Resort recently announced the merchandise events for July, and the lineup includes a artwork, a jewelry trunk show, and a patriotic collection of dolls.
In celebration of July 4th, a new patriotic collection of dolls from Precious Moments doll maker Linda Rick will debut at Uptown Jewelers at the Magic Kingdom on June 28 through July 7. First-ever ‘Á La Mode’ Costume Contest Planned for D23 Expo

This year’s D23 Expo will be celebrating fans’ enthusiasm for dressing up as their favorite Disney characters in a whole new way – with the first À La Mode Costume Contest.
The contest – named after Edna Mode from The Incredibles – will shows fans’ creativity through costumes inspired by Disney. The categories include Motion Pictures (Animation, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm), Parks and Recreation, Consumer Products, Media Networks (including ABC, Disney Channel, and ESPN), and Interactive.

Student Fashion Designers Inspired by ‘Monsters University’

Students at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles recently had a chance to work with artists at Disney Consumer Products to create a sportswear collection based on characters from Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University.
The college offers more than a dozen programs including Fashion Design, Toy Design, and Fine Arts, and this partnership with Disney was a chance for students to get real-world design experience as they worked to bring Mike, Sulley, and Art to life through clothes.
