December Merchandise Events Announced for the Walt Disney World Resort

Just in time for the true start of the holiday shopping season, the December merchandise events have been announced for the Walt Disney World Resort.
Starting out the month is a meet-and-greet with Disney Traditions artist Jim Shore on December 1 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Heritage Manor at the American Adventure Pavilion in Epcot. Jim will be signing some of his new releases.
And from now until December 29, the Precious Moments holiday collection from doll maker Linda Rick is available at Once Upon a Toy in the Downtown …

All Walt Disney World Resort Park Entrances Are Now Turnstile Free

Earlier this week the Magic Kingdom reached a milestone as the park’s last touch point entry system was unveiled.
With the unveiling all Walt Disney World Resort park entrances are turnstile free.
In February of this year, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park was the first park to trade in its turnstiles for touch point entries. The other parks have seen turnstiles replaced by touch point systems throughout the year.

December Merchandise Events Announced for the Disneyland Resort

It’s hard to believe that December is just a couple of days away, but just as holiday shopping gets into full swing next month’s merchandise events have been announced for Disneyland.
Starting out the month on December 1, Miss Mindy (Melinda O’Brien) will be at Wonderground Gallery in the Downtown Disney District from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. showcasing her frost holiday Vinylamtion ornament collection.

Disney Channel’s Premiere of ‘Sofia the First: The Floating Palace’ Takes Number One Spot for Evening Preschool Telecast

Last weekend’s Disney Channel premiere of Sofia the First: The Floating Palace was a huge hit for the network.
The show – which featured a special appearance by Disney’s The Little Mermaid – had 4.7 million total viewers. This makes it the number one evening preschool telecast for the year to date and the number one evening telecast across all television for kids ages 2-5.

Marvel and Huffy Collaborate on New Line of Bicycles, Tricycles, and Scooters

Marvel Entertainment and Huffy have announced they are developing a new line of bicycles, tricycles, scooters, and accessories bringing super hero fun to the market.
The new products will be an expansion of the bike category for Marvel, transforming the bikes into essential gear for kids who want to play out their favorite super hero missions.

Old Spice Classic Takes Place this Week at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort

The eighth annual Old Spice Classic tips off on Thanksgiving Day at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort.
The event is a premier Division-I men’s basketball tournament and this year’s field features eight teams including No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 21 Memphis. Other teams in the tournament include Purdue, Butler, Washington State, Siena, LSU, and St. Joseph’s.

Children’s Miracle Network Named as the Presenting Sponsor for Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Children’s Miracle Network – a nonprofit that raises funds and awareness for children’s hospitals – has been named as the presenting sponsor for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort.
As the presenting sponsor, Children’s Miracle Network will have the opportunity to raise awareness and fundraising for the Network’s 170 children’s hospitals.
The charity will also receive up to 400 registrations for the sold-out race that are reserved for runners who are interested in fundraising for the group. Half-marathon participants must raise a minimum of $300 to …

Joffrey’s Coffee Blends Created for Disney Parks Now Available for Purchase Online

Fans of the Joffrey’s coffee and teas served at Disney Parks can now order their favorite blends online.
Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company has created blends specifically for the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland resort. The company’s roastmaster Chris de Mezzo worked with Disney Parks chefs to create the blends for signature restaurants.
Each restaurant blend was inspired by the menu and the restaurant itself. Some of the specialty blends include the Flying Fish Café Espresso and Artist Point Blend.

Tulane University’s Devon Walker to Receive 2013 Disney Spirit Award

Devon Walker – a Tulane University senior who suffered a serious spinal cord injury during a football game last season – will receive the 2013 Disney Spirit Award.
The award is given annually by Disney Sports to college football’s most inspirational figure. After suffering his injury, Walker has become a motivational figure for his team, the university, and the New Orleans community.
Walker’s football career started at Tulane in 2009 as a walk-on. He earned a scholarship and became the starting safety and team captain for the 2012 season. In the second …

Pixar Lays off Employees Due to the Delay of ‘The Good Dinosaur’

Pixar Animation Studios has laid off nearly 5 percent of its 1,200 person workforce due to delays on the studio’s next feature, The Good Dinosaur.
The layoffs affect close to 60 people related to the project at the studio’s Emeryville, California headquarters.
The Good Dinosaur was originally scheduled for a May 30, 2014 release date, but that was pushed back to November 25, 2015 earlier this fall. Prior to the delay of the project, Pixar removed director Bob Peterson from the project. No replacement has been named as director.
