Disney Announces ‘Frozen’ to be Released November 27, 2013

A few months ago, we brought you the news that Pixar Animation Studios will release a new film about dinosaurs, then set to debut November 27, 2013. This week, Disney announced that this release date will instead be occupied by Frozen, a feature length animated film to be produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Frozen,  based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen, is not a new project for Disney. Originally known as The Snow Queen, the project has been in development off and on at Disney for the past decade, with the film most recently being put on hold in March 2010. While The Snow Queen was expected to be Disney’s next hand drawn animated film after The Princess and the Frog when last in development, it is currently unknown whether or not the film will be hand drawn or computer animated. Currently, music for the film is expected to be composed by Alan Menken, known for his work on such classic films as The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

This new announcement now leaves Pixar’s untitled film about dinosaurs without a release date, but the film is still in development. Stay tuned for more news about these two exciting films.
