Walt Disney Animation Studios to Partner With Marvel for ‘Big Hero 6’

It looks like Walt Disney Animation Studios will soon be joining up with Marvel to produce a new comic book movie. Disney has confirmed that the animation studio is currently is in the early stages of development of a film based on Marvel’s Big Hero 6 comics.

Big Hero 6 is a Japan-based comic that centers on a group of superheroes united by the Japanese government to be a “crisis-fighting super-squad.” The group, which made its debut in 1998, includes the characters of Silver Samurai, Sunfire, GoGo Tomago, Honey Lemon, Hiro Takachiho and Baymax.

No specific details about the film are yet known, but sources are reporting that it may debut in theaters as soon as 2014. Winnie the Pooh director Don Hall is currently rumored to direct.
