‘Avengers’-Themed Monorail to Debut in Walt Disney World

The theatrical debut of The Avengers is just a few months away, and this week, Disney Parks announced one way that Walt Disney World guests will be seeing its presence in the parks very soon. Following the success of the Tron monorails, which were installed in 2010 and removed last year, Walt Disney World will wrap one monorail with a special Avengers design.
The Disney Parks Blog released this special sneak peek image of the re-themed monorail (right), which will make its debut in Walt Disney World this spring. Stay tuned …

‘Newsies’ Opens on Broadway, ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’ Begins Performances

This week was an exciting one for Disney shows on Broadway. On March 28, Peter and the Starcatcher began preview performances on Broadway before its official opening in just a few short weeks. Just a day later, Newsies celebrated its opening night.

Bright House Networks Customers Can Now Watch Disney Junior

Yesterday, sources confirmed that Bright House Networks customers can now watch Disney Junior, a new channel that targets children ages 2 to 7.
Disney Junior will feature a variety of fan favorites like Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, as well as several Disney films including The Princess and the Frog, Toy Story 2 and more.

‘The Avengers’ Will Close the Tribeca Film Festival Next Month

The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) will be closing the fest with Marvel’s The Avengers on April 28. Additionally, TFF will be honoring local heroes from the U.S. Military, fire departments, first responders and police agencies by inviting them to attend the festival and meet the cast of the film.

Shanghai Disney Begins First Hiring Drive

Shanghai Disney Resort, whose production began last April, has launched its first hiring drive and are looking for approximately 100 positions to fill at this time.
An official spokesperson for Shanghai Disney Resort says:
We believe that Disney represents great service and excellence in what we do. So we like to have high level talent. We also like to develop talent. We bring them in. We really invest in development.

‘John Carter’ Star Taylor Kitsch Has No Regrets About the Box Office Flop

Despite the dismal profit numbers for Disney’s sci-fi adventure flick John Carter, the star of the film, Taylor Kitsch, has no regrets.
It remains unclear whether Disney will produce any sequels to the film, but Kitsch made it known that he would be completely on board if such a thing were to occur. Says Kitsch:

Merida from Disney/Pixar’s ‘Brave’ Coming to Disney Parks

Disney/Pixar’s Brave opens in theaters June 22, but the theater won’t be the only place fans will be able to see Merida, the main character from the film. Soon, she will be coming to Disney parks in a new meet-and-greet experience.
At the Magic Kingdom, Merida will be in Fairytale Garden with three cubs from the film. The setting will be inspired by her home, set in the Scottish Highlands, and children will be able to participate in fun activities like archery lessons while waiting for their chance to meet Merida. …

Tokyo Disneyland Now Offering Wedding Packages

For the first time since Tokyo Disneyland’s opening in 1983, guests will now be able to experience the magic of a Disney wedding on park premises.
Milial Resort Hotels Co., Ltd. in conjunction with Oriental Land Co., Ltd announced the availability of the “Disney Royal Dream Wedding” program, beginning in September. The package will include a wedding ceremony in the Grand Ballroom of Cinderella’s Castle, followed by a mini-parade outside the castle. TV Rights for ‘The Hunger Games’ and Sequel Go to ABC Family

ABC Family has landed the TV rights to The Hunger Games, as well as the network premiere rights to the sequel Catching Fire. The Hunger Games had a record-setting opening weekend, netting $155 million.
Says ABC Family President Michael Riley:
