Since acquiring Marvel in 2009, there have been persistent rumors that Marvel characters would eventually make their way into Disney theme parks. Now, it appears that will actually happen: a Marvel-themed world will be coming to Hong Kong Disneyland.
While there’s no news on when we can expect to see this new land or how extensive it will be, the assumption is that construction on the project will begin sometime this year or in 2014.

After releasing the Monsters, Inc. 3D Blu-ray last week, Disney is fueling the anticipation for the prequel Monsters University by releasing a brand new poster for the upcoming film.
The new poster showcases a variety of characters, including Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman.) While it’s likely we’ll see these characters make some type of appearance in the film, the movie is truly about when Mike and Sully meet at university and how they became the best of friends.

For the first time in history, the Official Disney Fan Club will take its D23 Expo outside of the United States!
The Walt Disney Company Japan officially announced that they will hold the first-ever D23 Expo Japan, which will offer attendees an inside look at the past, present and future of the company. As with the U.S. expo, D23 Expo Japan will feature a wealth of exhibits, presentations, activities and merchandise.

On Monday, a tourism official confirmed that Hong Kong Disneyland and the government are currently in talks over the resort’s expansion plans, which may include adding an additional hotel.
Tourism commission chief Philip Yung Wai-hung said they do plan to create a third hotel to the park. The current two hotels have approximately 1,000 rooms between them. Said Wai-hung:
We are now doing the design, and we aim to report to the legislature within the year on the design and financial arrangements.

“Mickey’s Toothache,” a 1938 drawing of Mickey Mouse and his then-nemesis Pete, was recently released from the Disney archives. The drawing was originally part of an unfinished cartoon that was meant to make Mickey a more complete character.
The artwork, created by Ferdinand Horvath, shows Mickey’s nightmarish trip to the dentist. In the drawing, Pete chases after Mickey with some wicked looking tools in hand while an anthropomorphic dentist’s chair attempts to grab Mickey.

Previously a Japanese-exclusive, Disney Interactive has finally confirmed that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX will be coming stateside.
The collection, which includes the HD versions of both Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, takes characters from popular Disney movies and cartoons and places them alongside the character of Sora, who is on a quest to find his friends. In addition to both HD titles, the game will also include exclusive cinematics from Kingdom Hearts 358/2, a game that was only available for the Nintendo 3DS.
