Buisnessweek is reporting the highest numbers for a season/series finale in the last 3 years. Over 13 million people tuned in for the “Lost” Finale, and 9 million tuned in for the catchup show that aired before the finale. Needless to say, the people at Disney and ABC are thrilled.

The Disney Company has sold the popular kid’s franchise “Power Rangers” back to its original owner Saban Entertainment. The New York Times is reporting the sale and offers some speculation on why Disney made the decision:
“The franchise came to Disney in 2001 as part of the purchase from Saban and Fox of what is now the ABC Family cable channel. PhillyBurbs.com is reporting that the local newspaper, Philadelphia Courier Times, is having a fundraiser/contest to raise money for the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program in the local community with the prize being a trip for 4 to Walt Disney World, airfare included. Anthony Petsis, president of the Newtown-based financial planning firm Anthony Petsis and Associates, donated the trip, which includes five nights at the Beach Club Villas.
The goal is to raise $5,000 for the program that had its funding cut last year, and the contest is as follows:

Marketwatch.com is reporting that Bob Iger (CEO, The Disney Company) has announced that the Walt Disney Company will donate RMB 1 Million to the China Youth Development Foundation, to help rebuild schools that were devastated in the earthquakes in Chinese providence of Qinghai.
Iger was quoted saying, “”On behalf of The Walt Disney Company, I extend our deepest condolences to the people of China and hope our contribution can help the children and families affected by this terrible earthquake.”

Disney Channel’s Emmy Award winning kids show “Imagination Movers”, has been renewed by Disney for a 3rd season, with production starting in New Orleans in Summer 2010. The new season will also feature a live concert episode that will be filmed as well during the season filming in New Orleans.
Currently the show airs in over 55 countries, and in 12 different languages, and has been in TV’s top 15 list for preschoolers since the show debuted in 2008.

IGN.com is reporting that Tetsuya Nomura, creator of the video game series “Kingdom Hearts” has confirmed the development of 3 new games in the series, including the much anticipated “Kingdom Hearts 3″. There is however no set timetable on KH3, as Nomura is also on the creative development team for a new Final Fantasy title that is due out this year.

Businesswire has reviewed Undercover Tourist’s new application for the iPhone, and it gets a thumbs up. The app, which is called “Undercover Tourist Wait Times”, is much more than the basic wait time app, and is very interactive, featuring maps with integrated, up to date wait times and descriptions of attractions. Top high speed train (or bullet train) makers from China and Japan are giving serious consideration to having Walt Disney World one of their stops, and Disney is behind it.
The New York Times is reporting that, “Central Japan Railway and China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock are competing for the $8 billion that President Barack Obama has granted for 13 high-speed corridors across the United States, including a line between Tampa and Orlando in Florida that may include a station at the Walt Disney resort near Orlando.”
