The 2013 San Diego Comic-Con was held this weekend, and, as usual, Marvel Studios did not disappoint as they presented their upcoming films to fans. In addition to giving fans a sneak peek at some exclusive footage from Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy, the presentation also revealed the title of the highly anticipated sequel to The Avengers.

This summer, Disney and Marvel Studios’ hit film The Avengers became a worldwide sensation, breaking box office records and becoming the highest grossing Disney film of all time. Following the film’s success, Disney and Marvel have now announced the release date of the film’s sequel, which will debut in theaters on May 1, 2015.

Sources say that, before accounting for taxes, Disney CEO Bob Iger realized a $26.6 million gain from the sale of his company’s stock.
Disney’s stock prices rose after an announcement last week that Disney would be making a sequel to the box-office hit The Avengers. Iger sold 1.8 million shares of his stock after the announcement was made. Two more Disney execs – Alan Braverman and Kevin A. Mayer – also sold stock after the company’s earnings report.
