Tokyo Disney Resort Celebrates the Holidays with Christmas Fantasy Event and More

Tokyo Disney Resort is celebrating the holiday season with new holiday-themed shows at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
The Christmas Fantasy event at Tokyo Disneyland features a Christmas Storybook theme with a new parade, pop-up storybook decorations, and Disney characters.
At Tokyo DisneySea guests can enjoy the Christmas Wishes even featuring a new program, A Perfect Christmas, featuring Disney characters. And, Mickey Mouse and his pals are lighting the Christmas tree in the center of Mediterranean Harbor during the Colors of Christmas nighttime event.

Updates and Refurbishments Announced for Tokyo Disney Resort

There are some major changes on the horizon for the theme parks at Tokyo Disney Resort.
Oriental Land Co., Ltd., announced the planned improvements this week and they include new themed areas in Tokyo Disneyland and a Frozen themed port for Tokyo DisneySea.
The Fantasyland redevelopment at Tokyo Disneyland will feature two news areas themed after Beauty and the Beast and Alice in Wonderland. The areas will feature new attractions, restaurants, and merchandise locations as part of the “overall redevelopment.”
The Fantasyland redevelopment is planned to begin after the fiscal year 2017. The …

Tokyo Disney Resort to Undergo a 10-Year Expansion Beginning in 2015

Starting next spring the Tokyo Disney Resort will begin a 10-year expansion of both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea.
The announcement of the expansion was made by the Oriental Land Company as part of their 500 billion yen investment in the theme parks.
The project includes a new and expanded Fantasyland at Tokyo Disneyland, nearly doubling the size of the theme park. New attractions, restaurants, and shops are also planned for the park.

Tokyo Disney Resort Planning Springtime Celebration Beginning in April

Tokyo Disney Resort is planning a special springtime celebration this year beginning in April and running through June.
The springtime celebration will take place at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
Guests at Tokyo Disneyland will have a chance to enjoy Disney’s Easter celebration with visits to a secret Easter garden and a Hippity-Hoppity Springtime parade. The parade will feature Easter bunnies and Disney characters.
There will also be an egg hunt at Tokyo Disneyland where guests will use a map to find the Easter eggs hidden throughout the park.

Highlights from the First D23 Expo Japan Include Sneak Peek of Shanghai Disneyland’s Castle and More

Earlier this month more than 23,000 Disney fans gathered at the Tokyo Disney Resort for the first D23 Expo Japan.
The expo was opened by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger who highlighted some of the company’s upcoming projects. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs gave expo attendees a sneak peek of what’s coming for Disney Parks around the world including a glimpse of the castle for Shanghai Disneyland and the Iron Man attraction headed to Hong Kong Disneyland.

A Renovated Star Tours Opens at Tokyo Disneyland

As the celebration of Tokyo Disney Resort’s 30th anniversary continues, a renovated Star Tours: The Adventures Continue opened at the park earlier this month. The new ride is an updated version of the original ride that opened at the park in 1989.
The virtual reality-based attraction features Star Wars characters and destinations in 3D, and includes more than 50 story combinations that are produced through random selection of scenarios. Tokyo Disney Resort Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Tokyo Disney Resort celebrated its 30th anniversary Monday, kicking off a yearlong celebration that includes special events at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. This year is being called “Happiness Year” in honor of the ongoing celebrations.

Helium Shortage Deflates Tokyo Disney’s Balloon Sales

Editor’s Note: Today, we’re hearing from guest writer Cari Keebaugh about the shortage of helium and how it’s impacting balloon sales in Tokyo Disney.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue Gets Opening Date in Tokyo Disneyland

After opening in Walt Disney World and Disneyland last year, ‘Star Tours: The Adventures Continue’ will soon be arriving at Tokyo Disneyland. Coming just a few days after the monumental news that Disney has acquired Lucasfilm, Tokyo Disneyland has now announced that the updated Star Tours attraction will open at the park on May 7, 2013.
Tokyo Disneyland previously housed the original version of ‘Star Tours’, which closed in April 2012 to make way for the updated attraction. The updated attraction, which comes with a price tag of  over $87 million, will …

Tokyo Disney Enjoys Record Attendances in 2012

Tokyo Disney Resort, which includes Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, have released their attendance records for 2012.
For the first half of the fiscal year – April 1 to September 30, 2012 – the parks combined saw record attendance numbers of 13,250,000 guests. This is an increase of nearly 23.4% from last year, when only a little over 10,000,000 guests attended.
