Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard at Comic-Con to Promote ‘Kick Buttowski’ Cartoon

Although easily one of the tallest attenders at Comic-Con this weekend, Dwight Howard wasn’t looking to stand out necessarily…he was there to promote his cartoon and character, like so many other celebrities.
Howard, affectionately known as “Superman” to his fans because of his on court antics at the Orlando Magic’s center, also voices Rock Callahan on the Disney XD animated series Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil.  Callahan is a recurring character who serves as the idol for the title character, and stars in the movie-within-the-show, El Jaywalker.  He also happens to bear a …

Teaser Poster for ‘The Avengers’ Released

We haven’t talked about it here, but a lot of folks are. 
Next summer, make way for The Avengers, the superhero film that will unite Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, among others.  With Captain America making a strong showing at the box office during this past weekend, fans of the Marvel Comics characters are even more excited to see this one come to the screen.

Disney Interactive to Showcase New and Upcoming Games at D23 Expo, Will Also Feature Warren Spector Signing

There’s less than a month now until the much-anticipated D23 Expo, and new information is still coming out about the exciting offerings that attendees will find there. Jon Favreau and Guillermo del Toro Discuss ‘Magic Kingdom’ and ‘Haunted Mansion’ Films at San Diego Comic-Con

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which has been taking place this weekend at the San Diego Convention Center, featured a talk with two well-known film directors, Jon Favreau and Guillermo del Toro. The talk was a discussion between the two about filmmaking in general, with del Toro at the event to promote the film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark and Favreau promoting Cowboys and Aliens. ‘The Muppets’ Parody ‘Captain America’ in New Poster

In the past few months, we’ve seen Disney promote their upcoming film The Muppets by parodying some of the summer’s blockbuster movies, including The Hangover Part II and The Green Lantern. This week brought another instance of these hilarious cross-overs, with the release of this Captain America parody poster. The poster perfectly combines the ever-patriotic Sam Eagle and the newly released superhero film, produced by Disney-owned Marvel Studios. Fallen Backpack Causes Evacuation on Disney California Adventure Rollercoaster

Popular Disney California Adventure attraction California Screamin’ experienced some technical difficulties yesterday afternoon, when a rider’s backpack fell out of a ride vehicle and onto the rollercoaster’s track. The fallen object caused the attraction to come to an automatic stop.
No injuries or collisions were reported, Disney assures, but twenty four guests were evacuated from the ride. Firefighters had to remove the riders, whose ride vehicle was stuck at the bottom of a loop on the coaster. Riders were taken off the ride one at a time by the 20 fire …

Disney’s ESPN The Weekend Event Cancelled

Disney announced the disappointing news yesterday that the annual Walt Disney World event ESPN: The Weekend is no more. The event, which has been held annually at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since 2004, featured appearances by top athletes, ESPN telecasts, special events and activities for sports fans, and more. Despite the fact that the 2012 dates for ESPN The Weekend had already been announced for March 2-4, 2012, the event’s cancellation is effective immediately.
