D23 Expo Gives New Look at Disney’s Aulani Resort

The grand opening of Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa is just days away now, and guests at the D23 Expo’s Walt Disney Parks and Resorts arena presentation were treated to some new looks at the brand-new resort. The section of the presentation was kicked off with a performance by traditional Hawaiian dancers and singers, giving the audience a taste of the exotic culture they can expect at the new resort.

Walt Disney World to End Grand Gathering Experiences

Disappointing news was recently announced for large groups heading to Walt Disney World, as Disney has recently confirmed that their “Grand Gathering” experiences will be ending on January 28. These experiences are special events designed for groups of eight or more that travel to Walt Disney World together, and are not available to the general public.

Official Disney App Now Free for Verizon Wireless Customers

If you are all about the apps when you visit Disney Parks, then this news is for you:  Disney’s official Parks App, Disney Parks Mobile Magic, is now a free download for Verizon Wireless customers.
The same technology that provides wait times and FASTPASS return times within the parks also powers app, so guests should receive the most accurate, up-to-date information available anywhere.  Through the “magic” of GPS-enabled maps, you and your family may also quickly find your favorite characters, and play games.  You can even use a dining reservations feature …

Arnold Palmer Golf Management to Take Over Walt Disney World Courses

Disney announced today that it will turn its five Walt Disney World golf courses over to a third party for management.  It will mark the first time in the resort’s 40-year history that the courses will be run by an outside entity.
Arnold Palmer Golf Management will take over the day to day operations of each of the five courses – The Palm, The Magnolia, Osprey Ridge, Lake Buena Vista, and Oak Trail – on September 25.  Each of the approximately 330 Disney employees impacted by the move will be offered jobs …

Disney Announces ‘John of the Jungle’ Contest, Winner to Attend Cars Land Opening

Did you ride Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise attraction in 1977 or early 1978? Happen to get a picture of your Jungle Cruise skipper? That picture may just get you a trip to the grand opening of Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park, Disney announced this weekend at the D23 Expo.

Pixar Postage Stamps Now Available

Addressing that letter and mailing it just got slightly more enjoyable.
Originally announced late last year, United States postage stamps depicting characters from Pixar films went on sale last Friday.  The US Postal Service states that it has printed is printing 200 million stamps to meet the anticipated demand from consumers and collectors alike.

Disney Pixar Announces Two New Films at D23 Expo

While D23 Expo has just about wrapped up in Anaheim, California, we’re still learning of announcements that took place over the weekend.  Disney Pixar, for instance, has announced two brand-new, not-discussed-before films, which are scheduled for release November 27, 2013 and May 30, 2014.
The first film will be centered around dinosaurs, and has been anticipated for almost two years.  A brief teaser synopsis from the studio reads:
What if that life-changing asteroid missed Earth? Director Bob Peterson’s hilarious tale depicts a world where dinosaurs never went extinct.

New Walt Disney and Mickey Statue Coming to Disney California Adventure

A new statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse will be installed at Disney California Adventure, it was revealed at D23 Expo over the weekend.  The statue, depicting Disney and an early version of Mickey Mouse, continues to provide insight into how the massive renovation is transforming the Park into an area reminiscent of the California that Disney would have encountered upon his arrival from Kansas in 1923.  We love this picture, showing how the statue will look.  And here’s an interview from Disney Parks Blog with more details about …

D23 Expo First Look:  Disney Reveals Detailed Concept Art for Shanghai Disneyland Storybook Castle

We’re getting our first look today of new, highly detailed concept art for Shanghai Disneyland, and it’s stunning.
Shanghai Disneyland, Disney’s sixth themepark resort and its third in Asia, will have a castle at its center like other Disney parks.  However, unlike the other parks, Shanghai Disneyland’s castle will not be named for a single princess; instead, it will represent all of the princesses in the Disney royal court. 
The Enchanted Storybook Castle is slated to be the largest of the Disney castles, as well as the most interactive.  Within the landmark, …
