London Street Gets an 8-Bit Makeover as Promo for ‘Wreck-It Ralph’

Haven’t you always wanted to live in a video game – at least for a little while? This past weekend, those living near and visiting Brick Lane in London were able to imagine themselves doing just that, as the city street was transformed into an 8-bit paradise complete with pixelated pigeons, a taxi, clouds, dogs…and even 8-bit dog poo, all created by Disney film production sculptor Aden Hynes. The retro makeover was a promo for Wreck-It Ralph, which is being released in the UK on February 8.

Disney Teams Up With Harrods for Holiday Boutique and Cafe

Disney fans who will be in London this holiday season are in for a treat, as Disney and Harrods have recently joined forces to open a brand-new pop-up boutique and cafe for the holidays. “Disney at Harrods” gives shoppers at the iconic department store a chance to enjoy special Disney merchandise, activities, and more.

‘Muppets’ Sequel to Film in London, Bret McKenzie to Return as Composer

Last week, we brought you an update with some news about the highly anticipated sequel to The Muppets. Now, we’re excited to bring you another bit of news on the film via Collider.com and Muppets producer Todd Lieberman, including the return of Muppets composer Bret McKenzie and where the new film will take place.

Disney to Produce Stage Adaptation of ‘Shakespeare in Love’

This has been an exciting week for Disney Theatrical Productions. Following an earlier announcement that Peter and the Starcatcher will be heading to Broadway in 2012, it has now been announced that Disney Theatricals, in partnership with Sonia Friedman Productions, will bring a new adaptation of the 1998 film Shakespeare in Love to the stage.
The original film Shakespeare in Love won seven Academy Awards in 1999, including the coveted title of Best Picture. Writing the play’s script will be Tony Award winner Tom Stoppard. Known as the author of such …

Disneyland Paris Launching Fall Recruitment Drive

Last week, Disneyland Paris announced they would be launching a Europe-wide recruitment campaign, which will run until March 30, 2012. The company is looking for 4,000 individuals for a wide variety of positions to help celebrate Disneyland Paris’s 20th birthday.
Positions that talented candidates may apply for include food and beverage, hospitality, hotels and sales and administrative positions in human resources, legal and financial sectors. The first recruitment drive is scheduled to begin in London, October 11-14. Additional dates across the UK will be held throughout November, December and January. In …

Johnny Depp Continues to Find Pleasure in Playing Captain Jack

Over the weekend, movie critic Peter Howell shared an article about a terrific experience he had in a recent visit to the London’s Pinewood Studios, where he had the opportunity to observe the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean:  On Stranger Tides.”

Disney Announces Plans for the Next ‘Immersive Stores’

Can’t get to the theme park?  No worries.  Because Disney is bringing the theme park to you!
The company announced last week that it is going forward with plans to introduce more of its “immersive” stores in 2011.  Most of the new stores will be remodels of existing Disney retail locations.  But a few will be brand new – including locations for the first time ever in Minnesota’s Mall of America, as well the first Disney stores in Puerto Rico, Dublin, Ireland, and Copenhagen, Denmark.  Jim Fielding, Disney Store’s president, sees it …
