More Details Released for Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Over the weekend at the D23 Destination D: Amazing Adventures event, Disney released additional information about Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Bob Chapek, Chairman, Disney Parks & Resorts, talked about the storyline developed by Walt Disney Imagineering and Lightstorm Entertainment, including the story of the bridge that leads guests to Pandora.
According to the backstory the bridge was built by the Resource Development Administration and was then abandoned. The bridge is now used as the entry into the base camp of Alpha Centauri Expeditions, the tour group …

New Artist Renderings Released for Pandora: The World of AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will soon be home to an all-new land, Pandora – The World of AVATAR and Disney has released another artist rendering for the land.
The latest artwork is for the family-friendly attraction Na’vi River Journey and it features the bioluminescent trees and plants that are familiar to anyone who has seen the film AVATAR.
Pandora – The World of AVATAR will feature the Na’Vi River Journey attraction in addition to the E-ticket “banshee flight simulator” that is reportedly similar to Soarin’ at Epcot but with more thrills. The area …

New Details Released for Avatar Land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The new Avatar Land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom isn’t scheduled to open until 2017 but recently Disney shared some new details about this area.
Avatar Land – inspired by the 2009 film – is being built in the former location of Camp Minnie Mickey between Africa and the Oasis areas of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
When the area opens it will include an attraction that is being called a “banshee flight simulator” that is reportedly similar to Soarin’ at Epcot but with more thrills. Another attraction will be an indoor boat ride that …

Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade at the Animal Kingdom to End in June

The Animal Kingdom’s daily parade – Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade – is set to end sometime this summer according to Disney.
Construction work is continuing on the Avatar-inspired land expansion at the Animal Kingdom and the work will soon impede the viewing area and parade path.
The Avatar-inspired land is scheduled to open in 2017 and will take over and expand beyond the Camp Minnie-Mickey area. The Festival of the Lion King is moving to an all-new theater in the Africa section of the park.

Disney Exec Says Avatar Land Is Still Under Development

A leading Disney executive has confirmed that plans for “Avatar Land” in Disney’s Animal Kingdom are still under way.
The media giant has said little about the anticipated project since its announcement nearly a year ago, but Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs says the project is definitely moving forward. Says Staggs:

Avatar Land Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2015

Despite internet speculation that Avatar Land is in trouble, Disney CEO Bob Iger says the project is still very much underway – and can be expected to open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park sometime in 2015.
During Disney’s annual shareholder meeting last week, Iger announced the estimated target date during an question and answer session, but few details have been released about this 500 million dollar project. Disney Working on Bringing Marvel Characters to its Theme Parks

During Tuesday’s annual meeting, Bob Iger, the president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company told attendees that the company is busy planning ways to bring Marvel characters, as well as other characters that appeal to boys, into Disney theme parks.
Rumors of bringing Marvel characters to Disney Parks have been hinted at since 2009, when Disney acquired the comic company. So far, only Marvel merchandise has made an appearance at any of the parks – but that might not hold true for long.

James Cameron Visits the Disneyland Resort for Avatar Land Inspiration

We let you know a few weeks ago that James Cameron was spotted at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Park to get inspiration for the park’s upcoming addition, a themed land based on the film Avatar. Disney Shares Additional Information About Upcoming AVATAR Land

The news of a partnership between Disney and James Cameron’s company set the Disney fan space abuzz yesterday, and while it’s far from dying down, answered some of fans’ most pressing questions.
