Walt Disney World Recognized for Energy Conservation in the State of Florida

The Walt Disney World Resort was recently recognized with Sustainable Florida’s large business best practice award for their work in energy conservation.
In this year alone, Walt Disney World saved enough electricity to power Space Mountain for 35 years, and since 2009 the resort has reduced overall electric consumption by more than 10 percent. This was achieved through implementing new technology and equipment, adjusting operations, and changing cast member behavior.
The company had set a goal to reduce electrical usage by 10 percent and based the goal on its 2006 consumption.

Disneyland Forced to Temporarily Close Attractions By OSHA

Visitors to Disneyland this weekend will have to enjoy the parks without some of the Resort’s major attractions, as several attractions have been temporarily shut down due to safety violations. Yesterday, a series of safety violation citations were issued to Disneyland by California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CAL/OSHA), prompting the ongoing closure of Space Mountain and Soarin’ Over California.
CAL/OSHA issued seven citations to Disneyland regarding Space Mountain, which were related to a 2006 agreement in which Disneyland agreed to safety improvements and inspections following several recent accidents. The violations …

Star Sighting: Mandy Moore Poses with Rapunzel at Disneyland Resort

Last week, Tangled star Mandy Moore stopped by the Disneyland Resort for a meet-and-greet with Rapunzel.
After posing for a photo, the singer/actress said she was looking forward to seeing Disneyland Resort decked out in its Halloween Time decor, and was really eager to check out Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure.
Of course, no visit would be complete without a ride on Space Mountain – according to Moore, that is her favorite attraction.

State Officials Investigate Space Mountain Accident

State officials are investigating an accident that occurred at Disneyland’s Space Mountain attraction, which left a 68 year old machinist with critical injuries.
The machinist was testing a vehicle on the ride at the time the accident occurred. Initial information reported the man, Christopher Monday,  was struck by the vehicle, but how this happened is still being investigated. What we do know is that Monday suffered critical back, chest and head injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Disney Spends Millions to Help Shorten Ride Wait Times

According to sources, Walt Disney World has spent millions of dollars in an effort to shorten ride wait times – including popular favorites like Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Says Brian Britain, vice president of park operations for Disney World:
We want our guests to have a hassle-free experience. Let’s face it, waiting in line is a hassle. By saving a fraction of a second, we’re able to provide a half million more guest experiences.

10 Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Attractions Closing for Renovatons

As the summer crowds wind down at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, 10 attractions will be closing for renovations.
The longest closures will be Indiana Jones Adventure, Casey Jr. Circus Train and Storybook Land Canal Boats. These closures begin Tuesday, and will be closed through fall. Indiana Jones Adventure will reopen December 7 after improvements are made to enhance lighting, paint and other effects. Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train will both reopen November 15 after undergoing routine safety enhancements.

Woman Who Lost Consciousness On Space Mountain Improving, Says Sheriff’s Office

A woman who lost consciousness while riding the Space Mountain attraction at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom last Sunday is showing signs of improvement, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Miranda Baldwin, 48, of Cornwall, England, experienced what investigators are calling an “unknown medical event” while riding the roller coaster with her two daughters over the weekend.  Her daughters, who were riding behind her, noticed that she seemed to be unconscious toward the end of the ride, and summoned cast members to assist when the ride was over.  Reedy Creek …

Woman Found Unconscious on Space Mountain; Ride Closed for Inspection

Walt Disney World’s Space Mountain, located in Magic Kingdom, was closed today after a guest was found unconscious on the ride.
The 48 year-old woman, whose name has not yet been released, was treated at the scene by Reedy Creek Emergency Services before being transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital. 
While the condition of the unidentified guest is unknown at this time, park officials stated that the cause of her unconsciousness appeared to be as a result of a health issue, rather than an injury or trauma as a result from the ride.

Star Sightings All Over the Kingdom:  Blair Underwood, Joe Jonas, and Ashley Greene

Wednesday was a popular day to do some star gazing at the Happiest Place on Earth!
Over in Tomorrowland, Joe Jonas of the popular rock trio Jonas Brothers posed for a picture in front of Space Mountain with main squeeze Ashley Greene of “Twilight” fame.
Across the park, TV president Blair Underwood of the NBC drama “The Event” mugged for wife Desiree, along with the couples’ three children, outside of the Hall of Presidents.
