Rafiki’s Planet Watch Closing at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Rafiki’s Planet Watch is closing next month at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The area includes Conservation Station, the Affection Section petting zoo, and the Habitat Habit! trail and is reachable via the Wildlife Express Train.
Guests have been able to meet Doc McStuffins, Rafiki, and other characters in the area, in addition to watching animal care cast members at work.
The last day for Rafiki’s Planet Watch is October 20.
There is no word yet on what, if anything, will replace Rafiki’s Planet Watch at the Animal Kingdom. However, the park will be celebrating the …

Doc McStuffins Meeting Guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney Junior favorite Doc McStuffins is meeting guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Doc has set up a meet-and-greet outside the vet clinic at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
Guests can meet Doc here or at Disney’s Hollywood Studios where she’s been meeting fans for a few years.
The Disney Junior show Doc McStuffins tells the story of six-year-old Doc, who wants to be a doctor just like her mom. She runs a clinic for stuffed animals and toys.
The show was recently renewed for a fifth season and has been honored with a Peabody Award. Fans …

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Planning ‘Spring Forward’ Event on March 5

To celebrate ‘springing forward’ next month, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is celebrating frogs, toads, and other amphibians at their ‘Spring Forward’ Event.
The event takes place March 5 at Rafiki’s Planet Watch and guests will have a chance to learn about amphibians while participating in fun activities. Guests of all ages can learn to leap like a frog, listen to and identify frog calls, and make toad abodes for their own backyards.
Animal care experts at the Animal Kingdom are also working to raise the endangered Puerto Rican crested toad at the park. …

Walt Disney World Guests can Celebrate World Turtle Day on May 20 at Animal Kingdom and Epcot

Disney’s Animal Kingdom and The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Epcot are set to celebrate World Turtle Day on May 20.
At Rafiki’s Planet Watch guests might have a chance to see a turtle getting a veterinary exam and they can try on a replica of a turtle shell in addition to learning about the turtles and tortoises that call Animal Kingdom home.
Cast members at the Animal Kingdom will also be discussing how they help the turtles and tortoises found on the conservation land at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Celebrating Spring with Frogs and Other Amphibians

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is celebrating spring with a special event that connects families with nature.
On March 4 at Rafiki’s Planet Watch guests have a chance to get up close with amphibians including frogs and toads, and meet the animal experts who care for them. Kids will have the chance to build toad abodes for their own backyards, learn to leap like a frog, and listen to frog calls.

‘African Cats’ Integrated into Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Earth Day Event

This year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom park will integrate Disneynature’s upcoming film, African Cats, into their annual Earth Day event. The theme this year is Celebrate Earth Day with a Party for the Planet.
In order to raise awareness and bring African Cats to life, the Animal Kingdom park will be offering a host of activities and special educational opportunities that feature lions, cheetahs, and how scientists research these wild animals.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Welcomes New Baby Warthogs & Oryx

Three baby warthogs were born recently at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. This was the first liter for their mom who’s recovering well from delivery; the babies are expected to be released back into the savannah within several weeks. The three new baby boys will join a population of now 6 warthogs in the Disney family; 4 males and 2 females. That’s not including their portly animated friend, Pumbaa.

Baby Elephant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Being Introduced to the Savannah

Back on May 23rd we reported about the birth of a baby elephant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a beautiful baby girl. Luna, now almost one month old, is taking her first steps into the Kilimanjaro Safaris Savannah. Luna has a lot of adapting and learning to do and Disney is taking every precaution to foster her health and well-being.
