Rock Your Disney Side Party Entertainment Announced for the Magic Kingdom

The Rock Your Disney Side 24-hour party begins at bright and early on Friday and the Magic Kingdom has some special entertainment planned for guests.
The event kicks off with a special edition of the Welcome Show with Disney heroes and villains making their way into the Magic Kingdom.
At 10 a.m. the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party takes place with Disney heroes – the villains take over the street party at 1:30 p.m., while the 5:45 p.m. performance will feature characters voted on by guests.

Pixar Animation Studios is Developing ‘Cars 3’ and a Sequel to ‘The Incredibles’

Lightning McQueen and Mr. Incredible are headed back to the big screen.
It was announced at this week’s annual meeting of The Walt Disney Company shareholders and D23 Members that Pixar Animation Studios is developing a third installment in the Cars franchise in addition to a sequel to Brad Bird’s The Incredibles.
The original Cars was released in 2006 while the sequel, Cars 2, was released in 2011. Disneytoon Studios released a spinoff – Planes – last year. This summer, Planes: Fire & Rescue hits the big screen.

The Walt Disney Studios Announces Cloud-Based Digital Movie Service ‘Disney Movies Anywhere’

The Walt Disney Studios unveiled a cloud-based digital movie service, Disney Movies Anywhere, giving fans the ability to purchase, manage, and watch movies from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel at home and on the go.
Disney Movies Anywhere is available on the web and as an app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
The debut of the service coincides with the digital release of Disney’s Frozen, and the Disney Movies Anywhere library includes more than 400 active digital titles. For a limited time, users can activate and connect their account with their iTunes …

First-ever ‘Á La Mode’ Costume Contest Planned for D23 Expo

This year’s D23 Expo will be celebrating fans’ enthusiasm for dressing up as their favorite Disney characters in a whole new way – with the first À La Mode Costume Contest.
The contest – named after Edna Mode from The Incredibles – will shows fans’ creativity through costumes inspired by Disney. The categories include Motion Pictures (Animation, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm), Parks and Recreation, Consumer Products, Media Networks (including ABC, Disney Channel, and ESPN), and Interactive.

‘Cars’ Play Set Coming to Disney Infinity

Disney has announced details about the fourth play set coming to Disney Infinity, the video game that features physical figures and virtual worlds akin to Activision’s Skylanders franchise.
In addition to Pirates of the Caribbean, Monsters Inc., and The Incredibles, Pixar’s Cars characters will have their own play set when the game launches. While the first three play sets will be sold in a starter pack for $74.99, the Cars play set will sell individually for $34.99. According to Disney, each play set will add about six to nine hours of gameplay.

Pixar Play Parade Returning to Disney California Adventure This Summer

For the past year, the Pixar Play Parade has been on hiatus during Disney California Adventure’s expansion efforts. Now, however, the parade will be returning this summer with a few exciting changes.
The parade will still feature classic Pixar characters and worlds from such movies as Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Cars to name a few, but long-time fans of the parade will notice some changes. New Animator Added to Pixar Speaker Sessions for Pixar’s 25th Anniversary Weekend

I have some exciting news for you today, Pixar fans! A new animator has been added to the Pixar Speaker Sessions at Pixar’s 25th Anniversary Weekend at Epcot, taking place this weekend (May 13-15.)
Scheduled for May 15, Supervising Animator Shawn Krause is scheduled to replace Michael Giacchino at the 6 p.m. special presentation at the World Showplace. John Lasseter Talks About ‘Brave’ and Potential for an ‘Incredibles’ Sequel

Pixar has been notorious for shying away from sequels for many years, with the exception of the Toy Story franchise and the much-anticipated Monsters University, (the sequel to the smash hit Monsters, Inc.), as well as the upcoming Cars 2. Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival to Celebrate Pixar’s 25th Anniversary

We have some exciting news for Pixar fans today – the 18th Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival will be honoring Pixar during Pixar’s 25th Anniversary Weekend May 13-15!
Plenty of fun and activities celebrating Pixar will be at Epcot next month, including an appearance from Mater, co-star of Disney/Pixar’s Cars and Cars 2. Guests will have the chance to participate in special meet and greets, kids activities, and discussions by Pixar filmmakers and other employees.

‘Block Party Bash’ Bids Farewell to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The New Year’s Day crowds were massive, as the Block Party Bash made its final run through the streets of Disney’s Hollywood Studios yesterday.
The interactive, 35-minute parade features lots of familiar faces from Disney Pixar films, like Toy Story and The Incredibles.  It opened in the park in the spring of 2008 after a successful three-year run at Disney’s California Adventure.  Always a particularly high-energy affair, apparently, today’s performance was no exception, as performers seemed to take it to the next level.
