Disney Hopes ‘Cars Land’ Brings Disney California Adventure Up to Speed

Disney California Adventure has never lived up to the standards the company was hoping for when the park officially opened in 2001- dismal attendance numbers can attest to that. However, with the $1.1 billion and multi-year refurbishment attempt – the crowning glory being the 12-acre Cars Land – Disney hopes that the park will finally be able to stand on its own.

‘Newsies’ Broadway Run is Now Open-Ended

Ever since Newsies made its debut on Broadway in March, the show has become a complete success, earning eight Tony nominations and becoming a box office smash. While the musical’s run was initially expected to end on August 19, the success of Newsies has prompted Disney Theatrical Productions to give the show an open ended run, with no closing date in sight.

Adventures by Disney Adds New Scotland Itinerary In Honor of ‘Brave’

Next month, audiences will be treated to some gorgeous renderings of Scotland and its beautiful landscapes in Brave, the newest Disney/Pixar film that is set to debut in just a few short weeks. This week, however, Disney announced a new way for fans to not only see the Scottish landscape on the big screen, but in person as well. “The Magic, The Memories, and You!” Gets New Summer Update in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom

Since early last year, Walt Disney World and Disneyland guests have been able to enjoy the fantastic new show “The Magic, The Memories, and You!”. This nightly show, which is projected onto Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom and “it’s a small world” at Disneyland, uses high-tech projections to create a variety of wondrous scenes and images, while also showcasing pictures of park guests that were taken that day through Disney’s PhotoPass service. Carthay Circle Theatre and Fountain Revealed to Disney California Adventure Guests For First Time

The grand opening of Buena Vista Street and Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park is just a few short weeks away, and this week, guests got a first look at one of the major landmarks of this grand expansion. The Disney Magic Arrives in New York City, Embarks on Disney’s First NYC Cruises

A few months ago, we let you know about the Disney Fantasy making a grand appearance in New York City, where it was officially christened. Yesterday, Disney Cruise Line arrived in New York City once again, as the Disney Magic ship sailed in to New York Harbor to begin Disney Cruise Line’s first-ever consumer sailings out of Manhattan.

‘The Avengers’ Becomes Highest Grossing Disney Film of All Time

With the many box office records that Marvel’s The Avengers has been smashing since it opened in theaters this month, it’s no surprise that the film has now earned a new honor: the highest grossing Disney film of all time. Last weekend, The Avengers surpassed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which grossed $1.07 billion worldwide, to become the most profitable Disney film of all time, earning a total of $1.18 billion in global sales.

Disney Hires Dave Green to Direct Untitled Wolf Adventure Film

With the $200 million loss from John Carter and the move to put the live-action Snow White remake Order of the Seven on the back burner, Disney seems to be moving away from big-budget films in favor of their lower-budget counterparts.
Along that line, Disney has tapped Dave Green, a prolific director of music videos and commercials, to helm an as-yet-untitled “wolf adventure” film for the company.

Disney Junior Launches Two New Apps for Young Kids

Disney Junior has unveiled two new apps for young kids: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally Appisode for the iPad and Jake’s Never Land Pirate School for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse app allows kids to interact with a full episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and will help enhance the learning experience for children ages 2 to 7.

‘Brave – The Highland Games Tournament’ Coming to Epcot this Summer

A new kid-focused entertainment option will be heading to Epcot this summer and will be based on the highly anticipated film Brave.
Brave – The Highland Games Tournament will allow children to participate in a variety of kid-friendly activities like Mini Caber Toss, Cake Toss, Haggis Flip and archery. A kids’ playground will also be available and will include enhanced wireless for the adults!
