First Look: Concept Art for Ariel’s Grotto at New Fantasyland

Today, we have concept art to show you of Ariel’s Grotto, a new meet and greet location coming to the New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom park.
As you can see from the photograph, visitors will be able to greet Ariel in her mermaid form, seated on a seashell throne. This new character location will be located at the base of the cliffs where Prince Eric’s Castle sits, but will be separate from the Little Mermaid attraction.

ABC Family Orders Two New Pilot Shows, One Produced by Jennifer Lopez

ABC Family has ordered two new drama pilots, both with well-known producers. The Fosters (working title), from executive producer Jennifer Lopez, and Socio, from executive producer Gavin Polone.
Kate Juergens, executive vice president, Original Programming and Development, ABC Family, says, “ABC Family continues to find and develop original programming that adds new dimension and depth to the storytelling we offer. Both these shows are headed by wonderful executive producers who know the millennial space well and know how to connect with audiences.”

D-Tech Me Princess experience officially open at Downtown Disney Marketplace

The new D-Tech Me Princess Experience opened this week at the World of Disney Store at Downtown Disney Marketplace. This new interactive experience allows guests ages 3-12 to place their likeness on a three-dimensional 7-inch Disney Princess figurine.
During the 10-minute experience, several single-shot 3D face scanners instantly capture multiple angles of a guest’s face. The images are used to create the final princess figurine using a high resolution 3D printer. Details of the New Reimagined Test Track Revealed

Our friends at the Disney Parks Blog spoke with Disney Imagineer Melissa Jeselnick recently about the new reimagined Test Track ride in Epcot’s Future World. The refurbished ride is scheduled to debut this fall, and today’s interview provided new details, including the release of a new marquee rendering for the attraction.

Raglan Road Set to Host ‘The Great Irish Hooley’ Festival Labor Day Weekend

Disney Animator Ken Walker Passes Away at 91

Former Disney animator and director Ken Walker, who worked on classics including Alice in Wonderland and Fantasia, passed away on August 18 at the age of 91.
Walker worked for Disney from 1940-42, and again from 1945 to 1952. Additionally, he was filmed as one of Disney’s leading animators on the “Disney Cartoons” episode of You Asked For It, available on YouTube.
In addition to his work for Disney, he also worked for Columbia Pictures and Hanna-Barbera. Additionally, he founded Funnybone Films in 1981 and remained the owner of the company for …

Star Sighting: Katy Perry Poses for Photos at Disneyland’s Club 33

After her breakup with singer John Mayer, Katy Perry headed to The Happiest Place on Earth for some much-needed cheering up.
Perry posted a photo on Twitter of her and a pal at Disnelyand’s VIP Club 33, where she can be seen wearing Mouse Ears and “perusing” the club’s menu. Hopefully, her Disneyland vacation was filled with plenty of fun and happiness to help her recover from her heartbreak.

Disney Channel Actress Sabrina Bryan Announced as Final Contestant on ‘Dancing With the Stars: All Stars’

Former Disney Channel darling Sabrina Bryan will be the 13th and final contestant for ABC’s Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars edition. She will be paired with Louis van Amstel, who took to Twitter to exclaim his excitement over the pairing.
Amstel isn’t the only one who is overjoyed, however. Disney Store to Donate School Supply Kits to Boys & Girls Clubs of America

This fall, members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America across the nation will get an extra dose of Disney magic when they head back to school, thanks to a generous donation by Disney Store. This week, Disney announced that Disney Store, in association with the Disney Friends for Change initiative, will be donating 25,000 school supply kits to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Disney Considers Possible Buyout of Disneyland Paris

While known internationally as a popular European destination, Disneyland Resort Paris has been bogged down by debt and lackluster financial results since its opening in 1992. This week, however, Time Business revealed that the Walt Disney Company may be working to relieve these financial troubles through a buyout of the French company that manages the resort, Euro Disney SCA.
