Shanghai Prepares to Clear Land For New Disneyland Park

Expected to be vacant by June, the land in which Shanghai Disneyland will eventually stand is being cleared for construction. Not just of your typical trees, brush, and debris but the Shanghai government is relocating displaced residents of the land into a new residential community. “Project A1” consists of 6,500 residential apartments with approximately 818 sq. ft. of space each and all of them are expected to be occupied by August 2012.

Interactive C3PO Talks & Mingles With Guests at Disney’s “Star Wars Weekends”

Contracted by Lucasfilm and approved by Star Wars creator George Lucas himself, a new interactive & talking C3PO droid scuttled his way through Disney’s Hollywood Studios park to greet guests during “Star Wars Weekends.” Even though the famous droid has been part of the event in the past this time he’s interacting with guests in an amazing way, he’s talking to them! Disney’s “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” Opens With Dissapointing Numbers

With all of the hype and media efforts Disney pushed for “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” stockholders and movie buffs were expecting an impressive opening weekend, making big bucks for the company. Unfortunately, according to early estimates, Jerry Bruckheimer’s ‘Prince’ turned out to be a frog. Up against the widely anticipated “Sex and the City 2” & “Shrek,” the new “Prince of Persia” film came in 3rd at the box office making approximately $30 million.

Disney’s California Adventure Guests Get Preview of “Silly Symphony Swings” on Paradise Pier

On Friday guests at Disney’s California Adventure park received an unexpected treat, a soft opening for the re-imagineered “Silly Symphonies Swings” attraction on Paradise Pier. Formally known as the “Orange Stinger” the swings went under refurbishment as part of Disney’s $1 billion expansion and makeover of the park. Two weeks before the re-themed attraction was scheduled to re-open the Orange County Register is reporting that Disney guest relation officials are unable to confirmation if the soft opening will continue during Memorial Day weekend.

Cool New Mickey Mouse Band-Aids Coming to Target, For Tweens & Adults

Disney Consumer Products has introduced a new health and beauty product; classic Mickey Mouse band-aids! Character band-aids for children are hardly anything new; Disney-conscious consumers may remember seeing “Princess & the Frog” characters protecting the boo-boos of young ones since last fall. World of Color Dining Packages Announced

Dining Packages have been announced for Disneyland Resort’s World of Color show, which will launch on June 11th in Disney’s California Adventure.
Packages will be available for two seating times, the first seating time including tickets for the first World of Color showing, the second seating time including tickets for the second World of Color showing. Restaurants currently available for booking are Wine Country Trattoria and Ariel’s Grotto.

Disney’s Box Office Hit “Alice in Wonderland” Reaches $1 Billion Benchmark

Tim Burton’s successful ‘Alice’ remake has brought Disney into a financial wonderland after it was announced today that the popular film has made over one billion dollars in box office receipts since the film’s debut. “Alice in Wonderland” now joins heavy-hitters “Titanic” and “Avatar” as the top three “non-sequel” films to reach a billion dollar benchmark, and also touts the title of biggest opening for a 3-D movie.

Summer in Walt Disney World, a Festive 4th of July Celebration

Orlando Attractions magazine is reporting that 4th of July Events in Walt Disney World have been announced & each area of ‘the World’ is planning for a very red, white, & blue celebration. Each park, along with Downtown Disney, will feature a unique fireworks show, parade, or revamped patriotic version of their nightly entertainment. Disney’s Animal Kingdom park remains off the list, presumably not to disturb it’s animal population. Guests should note that the schedule is subject to change.

American Idol Winner Lee DeWyze, “I’m Going to Disney World!”

Crowned yesterday, the 2010 American Idol victor Lee DeWyze has already completed one of his responsibilities as a winner; recording a spot for the national “I’m Going to Disney World” campaign. Within moments of being announced the show’s champion, film crews took over at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles to capture the moment for Disney. Not one to waste any time, Disney has already started running the spots on American television.

Disneyland Hotel Plans Pool Renovation

Disneyland Hotel will be overhauling its pools to create an even more magical atmosphere for guests at one of the world’s original Disney hotels!

The hotel’s Never Land Pool will be completely made over, with new water slides, a kids play area, cabanas, and more. A new, four-foot deep pool will be built between the Never Land Pool and the water play area, along with a bridge connecting the different sections of the pool.
The theme will bring back memories of Disneyland’s opening years, with Monorail tie-ins and other nostalgic touches.
