Disney Channel Orders Pilot of New Show ‘Dog With A Blog’

For years, many of the Disney characters that we’ve come to love and grow up with have not been humans, but animals. From Simba in The Lion King to the Big Cheese himself, Mickey Mouse, Disney’s combination of animals with human qualities have produced some of our culture’s most treasured characters. Now, Disney Channel is looking to continue that tradition. This week, the channel greenlighted the pilot for a brand new comedy series, entitled Dog With A Blog.

Disneyland Paris Launching Fall Recruitment Drive

Last week, Disneyland Paris announced they would be launching a Europe-wide recruitment campaign, which will run until March 30, 2012. The company is looking for 4,000 individuals for a wide variety of positions to help celebrate Disneyland Paris’s 20th birthday.
Positions that talented candidates may apply for include food and beverage, hospitality, hotels and sales and administrative positions in human resources, legal and financial sectors. The first recruitment drive is scheduled to begin in London, October 11-14. Additional dates across the UK will be held throughout November, December and January. In …

Disney Working on New Female Detective Film

Sources announced yesterday that Disney is currently planning to develop a new female detective movie. The company acquired the rights to Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple in March, and has now picked up an untitled project from screenwriting newcomer Ashley Bradley which will be produced by Green Lantern co-writer Marc Guggenheim. Apparently, one detective flick just wasn’t enough!

Disney is Recognized with Prestigious Award from The Jane Goodall Institute

Last Saturday, The Walt Disney Company was recognized by The Jane Goodall Institute with the foundation’s prestigious Global Leadership Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.  Beth Stevens, Ph. D., and senior vice president for corporate citizenship, accepted the award on behalf of the company from Goodall herself.

Disney to Debut Appmates Mobile Application Toys

Yesterday, Disney announced their latest venture, Disney AppMATes Mobile Application Toys. These new toys are the first of their kind to allow kids to turn the Apple iPad into a virtual play mat. Developed between Disney Consumer Products and Disney Mobile, the new toy line features miniature Cars 2 vehicles with built in sensors that are immediately recognized by an app without any cables or hookups required. Unkrich Begins Work on Next Project with Promise to Keep Fans in the Loop

Lee Unkrich, director of some of Pixar’s most memorable films, is hard at work on his next project.
No word whether it’s the highly conceptual “trip inside the mind,” untitled and scheduled for release in 2014 or possibly even the next installment in the Toy Story franchise, but he promises to keep fans abreast of the progress.  Yesterday morning, he tweeted about the updates:  “Today is day one on my next project. 2012 Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo Collection Announced

The 2012 Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfredo Angelo Collection was announced last week, as well as the “Royal Maidens” collection for bridesmaids and the “Royal Blossoms” collection for flower girls. Additionally, Alfred Angelo debuted a veil collection to coordinate with the gowns in the Disney bridal collection.
The current Disney Princess characters, which include Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Tiana, were the inspiration for the bridal gown collection. ‘The Lion King’ in 3D Wins Second Week at Box Office, Set to Become #3 Animated Film of All Time

Last week, we told you about the exciting news that The Lion King in 3D had earned the #1 spot at the box office in its opening weekend, with almost twice as many tickets sold as originally predicted. This weekend, the film continued to beat expectations, and, in a surprising upset, ended up winning the weekend box office once again.
